Default Great day!!

Hi all. Decided today to spend some time with the bike so cleaned it this morning including getting a small steam cleaner to some of the dirtier parts (didn't work particularly well but will probably improve with more time). Put some wax on the painted parts, lubed the chain and the sidestand (which has been getting stiff for a while) and backed off the rear shock a couple of clicks before putting on the gear and going out. My house to H café first then through Nettlebed and Henley, Marlow bypass to Handy Corner, along the M40 for a bit then Beaconsfield, A40 towards home, Harefield, Breakspear and home. All told about 90 miles. I am growing more and more fond of the bike now - with the suspension backed off a bit it doesn't throw me out of the seat over bumps and I've also finally got the brakes working properly so it stops as it should (I think the pads needed bedding in). The weather was ideal and the bike ran perfectly. It's dirty again now, due to a couple of big puddles left over from the floods but I guess I'll just have to have another go again next weekend!!

Also went through Henley today. The one way system takes you beside the Thames which is now a bit below the edge of the road. Went past a week ago in the car and it was lapping at my tyres. Quite surreal.

At the moment I do not recommend taking a bike between Henley and Marlow. Close to Henley Management College the road is still flooded. Was round that way in the car on Saturday and I found all sorts of streams crossing the roads as the water is still draining madly off the Chilterns.
