Default Unused for a year - drain the tank?

Folks,

My bike has been sitting for over a year. The tank is practically empty so I was going to syphon out the left over fuel and refill it with fresh fuel and some injector cleaner.... What do you's think? Will that be enough? It's running like a bag of Sh**e. Keeps cutting out, popping and banging etc...

If it was running fine when you parked it up then that seems the most obvious thing to try first.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if I would have to do anything else to the tank first or if I would have to do something to the fuel injectors... had a carb'd bike before, wouldn't hesitate in stripping them, cleaning them out etc but not sure with Fuel Injectors.

Nothing to strip on fuel injectors. Cleaning the tank out wouldn't be a bad start, might have water contamination.

My old zx750r track bike was laid up over a year before I got it. Just ran red ex through tank with some shell max and never had any probs. it was on carbs though. I would drain tank run some paraffin in to it swill round then empty (or petrol) re drain then fill with injector cleaner and some v max fuel
Ticks an easily sorted problem off the possible problem list

Got the injector cleaner today, but for the life of me I can't find paraffin.... I take it petrol will do?

I heard somewhere that too much injector cleaner is bad for the bike.... Should I measure out a proportionate amount or just bung the lot in? (It's supposed to do 50-60l)

Put in a proportionate amount for the amount of petrol. IIRC 500ml=50 litres. So bung 10litres of petrol in and 50ml of Red-X
