Default My new belly pan

This cost me ~£45 new, shipped from Germany. I believe it's a JMV replica. I wasn't expecting much but it arrived in good shape (sturdy, no cracks or chips in the gel-coat) and after figuring out the mounting (pics below) I gave it a quick sand and primered. Hopefully we get a warm/dry enough day this week I can paint it (satin black).

Question for the paint-brains: I'm using Plasti-Kote. I've got the satin in black, but they only do a "regular" clear. If I spray that over the satin, am I going to end up with gloss or something in between?

I'm still working on a bracket to mount the stock gauges - I'd like a trailtech, but it's not in the budget ATM.

I did think about red, but figured there'd be slim-to-no chance of getting red in a can to match the rest, and also figured it'd highlight my sorely lacking (non-existant) paint skills as well. I might add some red decals (maple leaf?!) to the pan to tie it in a bit though.

go black - and if you get a hugger - make that black too.

Keeps them nice and understated and the bike looks good that way too.

Ha -cool! I wondered if it'd be someone from the board here, and meant to post up a "spotted" just to see, but then I forgot (typical).

Try it on an off cut of steel first. I havent used Plasti-kote sprays but other ones I have used will leave the finish that gets applied last. In your case, the gloss laquer.

They can look good on other bikes too.. Mine is a blue SV, but with black mudguard, belly pan and hugger. Looks good in my opinion.
