Default Problem with 2007 pointy speedo

I was on my way back from a ride at the weekend and I noticed my speedo was having a bit of a laugh with me. I was doing around 30mph but the speedo kept jumping to anything from 103mp to 27mph for no reason.

Has anyone had this problem before, if so how did you manage fix it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

I have had this before, ended up being a loose battery terminal.
Not enough to affect anything else but the speedo.

@Purity when I've checked the positive terminal was a bit loose so I've tightened that up.

I haven't had the tyres @Bibio. I might have hit a pot-hole which could have knocked the sensor?

I'm just about to go for a run around the block to see if tightening the terminal has helped.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Tightening the connection on the battery worked a treat.

Thanks for your help.

My speedo did the same after a minor drop when some c*nt in a people carrier cut across me and I had to take avoiding action. Turns out that I had cracked the plastic rotor that's part of the speed sensor.

Yeah it is usually one of the two answers that either I or Bibio gave.

Glad you are sorted
