Here's something happening at Lord's - in case anyone is interested. Tickets are £35 for the whole thing from http://www.londonsportswritingfestival.com/?page_id=410
I will be there on the day as I'm the organiser of the festival. Sports Photography Masterclass – Friday 24 October: This masterclass is aimed at anyone who is interested in making a career as a sports photographer or has an interest in improving their skills in this field. You may be starting out on a degree course or hoping to sell your images to the press. Spend an afternoon in the iconic J.P. Morgan Media Centre at Lord’s listening to and engaging with our speakers – this masterclass is an invaluable opportunity to find out more about the art and business of sports photography from some of our finest photographers working today. Tickets are £35.00 for the afternoon and will be on sale from 1 October via the Lord’s online box office. 14:00-15:00: How to get into sports photography With Pete Goding and Bryn Lennon. Pete Goding is the author (with Daniel Friebe) of two wonderful books on cycling – Mountain High and Mountain Higher, both published by Quercus, and both international bestsellers. His photography is admired the world over. Bryn Lennon is a graduate of the London College of Printing and after a time spent with Getty he has developed a reputation for his dynamic sports photography, specialising in cycling. Between them they have many years of experience which they will share with the audience during this event. 15:00-16:00: What picture editors are looking for Speaker to be confirmed. 16:00-17:00: The Art of sports photography With Marc Aspland and Phil Brown. Marc Aspland (The Art of Sports Photography) has been capturing the beauty and drama of sports for a quarter of a century. Hear him speak about some of those memorable images that he has captured over many years as one of the UK’s greatest sports photographers. Phil Brown has had thousands of photographs published in newspapers, magazines and books. He has also edited two books of sporting photographs published by Mitchell Beazley. In 2004 he put together a 300 page rugby volume England, Rugby World Champions and the following year produced a similar sized book Cricket, celebrating the modern game around the world. He continues to work as a photographer specialising in cricket.
