Hello all , I have just treated myself to this tool , as I now have a 2010 model , and after reading previous threads on its use I do have a question that I hope you can help me with .
If the "sync " is out then do you just use one air screw to sync them as in speed up the slower cylinder to match the faster one or slow down the faster one to meet the slower one or do you adjust both air screws to speed one up and slow the other down until the vacuum guages read the same ? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me . |

you just adjust the air screws till both levels are the same. i usually just use the front one as its easier to get at with the airbox still on.
the OBD tool is a bit of a pain as it only gives you a small window before the bike overheats then it will cut the idle valve back in. remember to set the TPS while your in there. Last edited by Bibio; 29-04-15 at 02:28 PM. |

Thanks for the info Bibio , I will give it a go tomorrow if and when time allows , I was thinking of setting up a desk top fan to blow air at the rad to assist in dispersing the heat to hopefully giving me a longer adjustment window if needed .

Ok all done , thought I would share my findings with you .
As per Bibio reply you dont have to remove the airbox but if you simply remove the top half of the airbox this gives enough access to the front air screw so you can now adjust both front and rear screw . Vacuum extensions are a must so fit them the first time then this part will be a doddle next time , mine actually feed round to the top of the expansion bottle for easy access . Healtech tool states that once balancing done turn engine off then push ISC value reset , dont turn engine off as this will loose comms with the link so do it whilst running , it will say "cannot do" but push "ok" and then it says done ( weird but true ) , now turn off wait 10 secs then restart and idle for 1 minute ( as per instructions ) . Little tip , air screws are 1 1/8 turns out as default setting . I had a desk fan running blowing air at the rad to help keep the adjustment window open for a little longer but if you are quick you wont probably need it . you cant reset the ISC valve on the SV you can only turn it on and off. the instructions are universal. i have never had a problem with the SV doing it either way. yes i got a bit confused with that the first time i used mine.

just to say i recently found (forgotten then remembered) a cheaper tool for locking the valve http://www.probike.co.uk/it080012.htm dont know if it works on the SV but i suppose a quick email will find out. if it does work the even just doing the job once will cost less than a sync from a dealer.
