Default Mk1 sv650 electrical system

Came to start my sv this morning on it was barely turning over, I've had it for 1 month and was told that the battery was changed last year. I've not had time to check out the battery yet but will nip home and set it charging at dinnertime. Just been reading up about the reg rectifier dying on these models. Am I best to charge the battery overnight and test the system tomorrow?

Well do the measurements, don't just blindly replace parts
