Default 2001 re-commission after a year in the shed

Hello, I've just bought a 2001 SV650s off ebay. I haven't paid for it or picked it up yet due to being away with work. I also, bizarrely, haven't seen the bike in the flesh as yet, but the people selling it seem genuine enough and no money has changed hands as yet.
The bike was owned by the previous owner since 2003. Unfortunately he's died and his son/daughter is selling the bike. Apparently, it hasn't been touched for a year. They haven't said it doesn't run but I'm planning on trailering the bike home to do some work before starting it up. I'm planning on:-
  • Charging battery
  • fresh fuel
  • oil change
Assuming this bike was in good order 12 months ago (it looks like it's been well kept), do you guys/gals have any advice/recommendations for me?

It is essentially a dry start so treat it gently. When I build engines I coat all rubbing surfaces with a special zinc laden paste to protect them while the oil gets round. In your case I would take the plugs out and spin it over a few times. I usually push it to do this with the ignition off.

Cheers Blapper. What do you think, 3rd gear then push around with the plugs out? That should get a decent splash of oil around do you think?

Yes, I suppose I'll only know when I try and start her up. Fingers crossed!
