Default Getting rid of the abs

Hi

New to this site, just got an SV that has abs - we'd like to fit hel hoses - race set up front. Any idea on how to lose the abs so that it won't upset anything else? - Warning light on clocks?

Cheers
Ted

why... ABS can stop/slow a bike quicker under heavy braking than no ABS even on a track. unless its for removing the whole system for weight saving then ok fair doozzz then just put up with the spazing dash.

ABS works by sensing when the wheel/tyre starts to skid, without it you have a higher chance of locking up and skidding. unless your some track guru like Valentino Rossi then its not going to make a whole lot of difference.

Is it a Gen 2 (pointy)? If it's for the track, you can remove the ABS module, pump, relays, the solid brake lines etc and just run conventional lines direct from the master cylinders to calipers.

Disabling the ABS does nothing apart from light up the ABS warning light and put an error code in the ECU, it doesn't affect power. You could stick a piece of tape over the light or remove the bulb. The ABS is 'failsafe' so if any component does fail, the brakes still operate conventionally but without anti-lock.

Yes, L4 pointy. Does the abs have it's own fuse? If yes, where is it and would disabling it stop it getting its knickers ina twist/cancel the warning light? Just an idea... .

A skidding tyre has less grip than one that is just on the point of skidding - I would never remove ABS from any vehicle. ABS can cause problems on snow and loose surfaces though.

So you're telling me that all pre-abs motorcycles are ****e?

Don't think I ever had a front wheel lock up on any LC/RGV/KR1S etc.. that I owned.

Maybe abs is just some kind of modern day namby pamby save the gay whale faggotry thing? I dunno... .

I had some sympathy with your request up until this last post, when you just blew any credibility out of the water. That last sentence did it I'm afraid.

...it was a bit unpleasant to read.

Anyway, don't know whether this will help but here's a link to the supplementary wiring diagram for the K7 showing there's a couple of fuses for the ABS:

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/79...page=78#manual

the fuse location is on the previous page #77.
