Default Selling bikes - test rides

I'm selling my SV as you may have seen, what do people do about buyers wanting test rides? At the moment I don't have another bike, although I may end up with a new one before the SV goes.

If it is covered by insurance I suppose you would have to ride pillion if you allow them a test ride .

It's a good question. I tend to use dealers for that reason (and lose money each time). I have trust issues so I'd want the money up front before the test ride which would be refunded if they didn't purchase and hadn't damaged the bike. You would definitely want some kind of security.

My other issue would be where would you meet? Do you let them come to your house? I read that doing the deal outside a police station is a good idea (like I said, I have trust issues )

Full cash price in your hand before any test ride. They give you actual money before test riding.

This. Along with proof of license & proof of insurance. And a 'you crash it, you've bought it' policy,

It's what i've done when selling or buying bikes previously.

Agree. Price sorted, deal done, cash in hand subject to test ride. You bend it you bought it.

another thing to watch out for is speeding tickets. photo of them on bike and signing a waiver then upload pic to a socil media site. tell them all of the above BEFORE they view the bike and warn them that if they turn up without cash they will be told to go do one.

I also trade in with dealers because it is easier and safer although you have to sign that you will pay about £600 excess on their insurance if you damage their bike on a test ride.
