Hi y'all!
I'm looking to renew my RAC cover, but was wondering who you guys use, and what is the best value. |

mine's currently with NCI, but coming up for renewal, so I'd also be interested in anyone's thoughts or past experience with any of the above (re bikes specifically rather than cars)

I've got RAC cover, only had one breakdown on the Yam and first time out they told me up to 4 hours to get someone out, and even they might not be able to carry a bike... But the second time, they were there in 10 minutes and the guy not only got me going, but diagnosed the exact fault better than the dealer would later on.
The cover was through an agency called Premier Plus, and they're crap... You can't speak directly to the RAC, you have to go through one of their operators, and then they pass ona garbled version of your request to the RAC- first time, the nice lady couldn't find Edinburgh on a map... But now I have proper RAC breakdown and accident cover. You can save a bit by not taking home start if you live on a hill, since all you have to do is push the bike a quarter of a mile away from your house ![]()

Thanks, Northwind.
I have been with the RAC before; I've had no probelms, as they cover the person rather than a specific vehical, so friends have benefitted as well. I just wondered if there was a cheaper alternative that offered the same quality of service. Up to four hours is bit of a p1ss take, though. RE: living on a hill ![]() Guy. |

Yeah, I was unimpressed at the time... But it was an awful day, so I guess they had more breakdowns than usual.

I used to have RAC cover untill the time when I needed them. My fuel pump broke down, When I phoned the RAC, I told them exactly what the fault was, what the bike was. I waited three hours on the side of the motorway. Eventually when they turned up, the sent a car mechanic that didn't know the first thing about bikes, and they sent him in a VAN
![]() ![]() ![]() By now it was early hours of the morning, I told him that I would phone the RAC in the morning and tell them what happened. I actually got round to phoning them two days later (was the weekend and was away) would you believe it, the stupid oaf hadn't mentioned a word of it to his boss. As if I wasn't going to mention it. So AA for me thanks. Used several times without any problems. |

carole nash use "sos motorcycle recovery" who i recently used after getting a puncture on the motorway and who left me on the hard shoulder for 3 and a half hours with no cigs
![]() to be fair though it wasnt there fault it seems my mate who i phoned to phone carole nash on my behalf(didnt have enough charge on my phone to risk being held in a queue)give them the wrong section of motorway, and in his defence he did later travel the 30 or so miles just to bring me a smoke...top mate...pity i missed him and had set off for home before he got there ![]() |
