I'm getting very very tempted with a Blue Flame end can but as this will be my first new end can on any bike, I wanted to do some more checking before ordering!
Insurance; do people generally tell their insurers when they fit an end can? Does it matter that this one at least can be road legal with the baffles/plug in? M.O.T's; what are people's experiences with getting an MOT with an end can on? For example, how much trouble is it with a pure race can compared to a hybrid? Re-selling; Not intending to do this any time soon, but in people's experience does having a non-standard pipe put people off buying the bike? I'd doubt it add to the value anyway! Getting pulled; Anyone actually got pulled by the police purely for having a loud can? I can see it being used as an excuse if you were taking the ****, but if you're fairly sensible anyway is it ok? Mechanicals; I'm not expecting much/any more power just by putting a can on, so does that mean the standard jetting will be ok? (on a 2000 model bike). Also further down the line I might have a pass through the engine for more power (airbox / filter and jets). Will a hybrid can still allow a decent increase in power (in full power mode of course). I think that's about it! Thanks for any info ![]() |

All i would say is keep the original for MOT time. Dont tell your insurance unless you are fully comp. Getting pulled is down to the local authories. and these removable baffle cans arent exactly legal. But still, get one and enjoy the grin.

i've been going through the same thoughts on end can no end can, and here's some info i found.
insurance?? if you have a no legal, can they will say that the bike is "un road worthy" which means you have no insurance, which means no money, which also means, a BIG fine, points and possible prison if they decided to make an example or people get hurt in the crash. Also if you get a BHP increase then the insurance won't cover it, mind with Norich Union is 3% so some of the reni cans i can't use. Also worth knowing (if your bikes new) that a new can will give you warrenty issues, if it's not suzuki kit, then if you have a engine problem or anything related to the exhaust then they will say the can course it and your warrenty is void. |
