I polished mine up with an angle grinder. Balance seems a bit off mind-but a reasonable finish.

If you want to have shiny wheels- set a day for each one- as you have to take them out, disks off, tyres off, then 180 grit the rim (dont bother with the whole lot-the rough finish on the spokes would take years to do). Rub down to the alloy-using the inner centre as a mark to stop-follow it religiously or the effect will be ****e. Then rub down with 320, then 800 wet. Then its onto a polishing wheel or out with the solvol. I did mine with the polishing wheel. Then Re-assemble.

The rear will take slightly longer than the front, I think mine took around 6 hours each-but the mirror finish looks grand.

Why not wait till you are having your tyres replaced- to save time.

I'm going to want mine powdercoated later this year, and that's going to be a laugh... Take wheels off bike. Take off all nonessential parts. Take wheels to bike dealer to take off tyres. Take wheels to powdercoaters. Get wheels back from powdercoaters. Go back to dealers and get tyres put back on and wheels balanced. Put bits back onto wheels. Put wheels back onto bike.

Lots of bus journeys ccarrying 2 bike wheels there But my Roadtecs will only be about halfway through their life, and i can't find a coaters that'll fit and remove tyres near me

Indeed, tis a problem. I'd like mine done too but don't fancy all the aggro and also being without my bike for a good week or so.

What we need is a set of communal wheels

Buy a set of decent tyre levers- some tyre soap, and some rim protectors and do it yourself. Its tricky, and you will struggle if your a weed-but money can be saved. Balancing is a bit more tricky, but can also be done manually. However its too tricky to explain here- (or im tired and can't be arsed)

It's not really money, the price of fitting and balancing on loose wheels is low enough that for me, it's worth it... It's all the faffing around

dunno what all the fuss is about

I use pledge and a duster to polish my wheels, and I have always found that this method is the best and easiest.

Jeez guys, don't you know that using grinding and wet and dry will take all the paint off

tsk tsk you should all know better than this
