Default BMW K100 winter hack

I'm looking at getting a winter hack for some distance travel work, maybe a BMW K100 or something else with a shaft drive.
Any one had any experience or thoughts on this...?

Why not? Seems a sensible idea to me if you can find one at a "winter hack" price.

Great-big fairing to keep the worst of the weather off, shaft-drive, well built and reliable if maintained OK.

Thats what I was thinking about... anyone know of any issues with them? Things maybe that I should look out for if buying one.
