Default which everyday brake pads?

I need to get some new front brake pads, current ones feel like wooden blocks in there.

Whats ideal for everyday road use, with very very occasional fast twisty road stuff? not fussed about fancy expensive ones, but dont want cheapest budget ones either.

H'mm well on my GSXR calipers I used Koyo ones from Wemoto and I've not been disapointed, but that's on GSXR 4 pot calipers, not Sv ones

EBC Road compound (not the HH's) are good and bite well even when cold

What he said. I find them better than HHs for commuting as I never seem to get the heat into the HHs to get their bite. When hot the HHs beat them hand down though.

Recently I had a bike with Goldfrens in and they weren't too bad either.

used ferodo ones a few times and found them good. halfords usually stock them as well which is handy if your in a hurry.
I have always used sintered pads in the front.
