I (foolishly) put my bike into storage for the winter in November, after one bad weekend's riding (Lost and stressed on Friday, soaked to the skin Saturday, then caught in snow on Sunday).
After a couple of bike free months I finally caved and put her back into active duty. All going well and I've decided never to garage her again. I'll just get some proper biking waterproofs and that scottoiler anti-salt stuff ![]() I went for a ride for a couple of hours yesterday, to "try out" my new screen. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed riding and it was great to put into practice some of the IAM stuff I've learnt from books prior to doing some IAM training come March. |

im about to do the same. i put my bike away at the start of nov and got a car, for more reasons than just beacause its cold though!( my daughter is too small to go on the back yet!). but my dad has borrowed the car so im off to work on the sv tonight. i must say im a bit nervous, but the roads are dry, so it should be fun!

With the proper gear there's no reason to park it... My Dad rides all year round with the "Popar Bear" club, in February he's even riding to Daytona Bike Week which is about 1,000 miles each way! He's also gut a BMW K1200LT
I make sure to take mine around the neighberhood at least every couple weeks... |

Yeah, get the bike out and ride it!!!
I don't have a car anymore so it is bike whatever the weather and it has been great. Just need to be aware and it is fantastic practice. Once you get the right gear it is not really that cold, although I have to admit the KTM is currently wearing handlebar muffs!!!! Look stupid but certainly the best thing at keeping hand warm! Have fun!!!!! |

tragically my bike has been in a shed since september!!
![]() I have lost nearly all confidence in riding after i was knocked off over a year ago! i used t not mind rain sleat snow ice etc etc, and i rode whatever the weather. However my sittuation at home force me to get a car, since then the nerves set in about riding again. Im on the firsty steps though, as i decided the reason im not confident on the bike is the tyres iv got, brakes are crap, and the forks dive to much, im concearned bout how it will handle under full power as well. So its in pieces, waiting till i get my pay cheque, then it bits galore to get me ready for febuaray, i want to stop using the car and get back on the bike, I have alo booked some adavnced training, and look forward to beaing a biker again! I passed my test at the beginning of november so have done all my learning and riding in thw winter so far. I have no idea what it's like to ride on a warm sunny day but have enjoyed every ride so far no matter how hard it's raining and blowing.....
It's got to be good for your skills I reckon to ride the rough stuff, better confidence in you and your bike for when it's warm and dry ![]() |
