Default loobman

how does the loobman work ?
it uses engine oil (which ive been told is the best lube for the chain - but bad for fling if too much is appied)

from what i hear - its like a pressure chamber - you have to pump it by hand - but how does the application of the oil work, does it continually drip oil to your chain ?
even if your not on the bike ?

The oil only drips when squeezed mate. You basically squeeze a little bit of oil out of the bottle and it is gravity fed down to your chain.

If you can afford the extra pennies get yourself a scotoiler its all automatic and you dont have to do anything at all, except for fill it with oil, you can adjust the flow rate so it does fling oil all over your bike as well

The Loobman works very well, I understand what you mean by ugly and untidy, but of course it's all down to how/where you fit it, it won't ever be as unobtrusive as, say, a Scottoiler or Lubetronic, as, being manual you need to be able to reach it to use it, precluding your fitting it completely out of sight, but I think it could be done more sensitively than in those pics.

yeah. i think i might get one you know - see if i can think of a better place to mount it.
its only 16 quid so i can always sell it on again if i have no joy.

what i like about the loobman is the fact that it uses engine oil. and that is dirt cheap money to pay for something that protects and cleans your chain at the same time.

dont really need a scotoiler - as my chain gets a good seeing to once a week anyway. but i would like something like a loobman so i can just give it some lube when it needs it the most.

(like sometimes im quite far away from home at stupid o clock at night - feel my chain and think . . . could do with some wax.

You can put engine oil in a scotoiler as well.
That makes the only benefit to a loobman the price, and I can't argue there, it is a good price.
Still prefer the scotoiler, myself, despite forgetting to fill it last week
