Does anyone have a Hagon shock fitted to their SV? If so is it any good and are they easy too fit, looks like a good upgrade option. Im also considering the Hagon front springs with the preload adjusters from JHS, again can anyone comment?
Beware, I bought a GSX-R 750 shock from ebay that was sold as nearly new, it arrived knackered, I dont think I will risk fitting it! ![]() |

Stox - I recently fitted a Hagon shock to my wife's K4s and it has totally transformed the Bike. She weighs less than 60 kilos so the spring and damping internals were matched to her weight. This was an extra £40, but still much cheaper than a WP or Ohlins, which have a multitude of adjustments that you don't really need for normal road use.
The main difference is that on bumpy roads, the throttle can now be kept wide open, whereas before she would have to back off, as she was literally being fired out of the seat over every bump, which I must admit did look amusing when following from behind! We've also had fitted Continental road attack tyres, which coupled with the Hagon, transform the Bike into the rapid lightweight sporting twin that Suzuki no doubt intended. Fitting the shock was a straight forward dismantling exercise, as it is a like for like fit (no mucking about re-locating the battery tray, etc...) However I did have to file about 5 thou off of the shock mounting bush before it would fit snugly in the top mount. I used an ABBA stand which secures the Bike safely. Incidently, when fitting the tyres and shock, I noticed that both wheel spindles and all the rear suspension linkages were bone dry, so I took the opportunity to grease them all before re-assembly. The Bike was new about 5 months ago, so it's obviously never been greased at the factory. I can't comment on the pre-load mods, as the K4 comes with pre-load adjusters as standard. In fact the front forks work well with good damping charateristics, it's just the standard shochk that's so poor. Hope this helps you decide. |
