Default FS365 - Pointless? Worth it?

So I was thinking that I could do with something to keep all the metal bits in tip top condition (I keep the painted bits waxed- mmm, shiny ). I had a look at the FS365 stuff from scotoiler and it looks like you have to re-apply it everytime it rains. Is it worth doing? Are there any other alternatives?

Thanks,

John

I use it every time I wash the bike - have a look next time & judge for yourself. It's not in showroom condition, but is probably better than if it were untreated

I have a bottle. Its crap. WD40 is a far better protector imo.

The f365 is soluble in water. Like thats gonna help when it rains!!

It may work somehow, but im sceptical.

From what I can understand it has a lot of corrosion inhibitors in it, and they become activated when water gets onto it. That's why you have to re-apply it because the inhibitors get used up. Basically it chemically slows the rusting process rather than forming a barrier to the water.

That's why I was interested in other products. Is there something that forms a wax coating? Maybe that would last longer?

There is a write up of it in this months Superbike magazine and they reckon is rubbish if you only apply it once a week. In all fairness it does say that you need to apply it every day! How unrealistic is that!

I have applied FS365 since buying my bike and have to agree with it helping to preserve parts, but I am also questioning the point of it if it rains and ends up washing away anyway.

I still apply it as I feel it helps provide a protective barrier to those areas that are hard to reach. I then apply Auto Glym motorcycle cleaner before washing the bike and then find that the dirt just washes off.

The main gripe that I have with it is when you apply it you have to lay a load of newspapers down to catch all the drips. The stuff does not dry and ends up all over the frame and paintwork (hugger etc.) which means that you need to dry it off before waxing etc. Or is it a case of applying it and then running the engine to heat it up and therefore dry it??

FS365 IMO is primarily a product that you put on and leave all winter and then wash off to reveal a prefectly preserved bike, how this works when it rains is still the baffling part.

It reacts with the air to keep the salt off, is it worth it I dont know

I tend to agree with Viney that WD40 does the same thing, however I have been putting WD40 and FS365 on mine through the winter and now I have scrubbed all the winter gunk off it doesnt look to bad
