Default What size angle grinder to change exhaust...

will a 4.5 inch do it, or does it need to be one of the 9 inch mothers?

4.5 will be fine! watch it doesn't catch and shoot of and hit any other parts of the bike like swing arm etc, I used a hacksaw to do mine

I'd use a hack saw personally, a slipage with the grinder could be nasty. Get a fine toothed saw blade, run a couple of turns of electricians tape around where u want to cut as a guide, and take yer time, all imho ofcourse.

I used a 4.5, it when through pretty easily, like every one says just keep an eye on the swing arm and heel plates cos it's all very close.

Personally I think despite the time saving the extra caution needed by using a grinder is not worth it.A junior hacksaw with a new blade will do it very well, just dont force the blade, let it cut on the forward stroke only.Ensure the teeth of the blade point forwards.
I did mine in about 15 minutes by being very carefull to cut as straight as possible and was very pleased with the result.
Once you break through the outer skin for the first time it gets a lot easier.

you must have a better standard of junior hacksaw out there pete. My blades won't cut through cheese without going blunt
