Default Road charge plan

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4610755.stm

Interesting - presumably bikers would be exempt.

How would they stop foreign drivers from coming in and getting our petrol without duty - or from driving our roads without paying?

I can't see it within their proposed timeframes as labour won't be in power after the next election

Every vehicle would have a black box to allow a satellite system to track their journey, with prices starting from as little as 2p per mile in rural areas.
NO, rural areas are for bikers, damn it... now we'll see artics keeps going up and down narrow country lanes. another money making scheme from the government using the reduce conjustion excuse i suppose.
if all the money is going to go towards our much needed public transport and make them cheap/free and accessible to all, i guess that'll be a slightly different story.

About £150 a day for me, at that rate I would need to get another job.

Big Brother will allways find some excuse to put his tracker on your motor just as soon as the technology becomes readily available. That is very soon now and it WILL happen.Whether its via road pricing, pay as you go insurance, compulsory speed limiters,or what I dont know, but in ten years we will all have them.Give you odds on it.
