Well... there's road-legal and there's "road-legal" if you know what I mean! And of course there's also just plain illegal!

Loudness is not necessarily a good thing, and there are many manufacturers out there makin legal cans that just sound fantastic. Due to the nature of the v-twin in the SV, it's unlikely that any of these will be truly legal when measured with a decibel meter. The SV as stock only just about fits into the category.

Renegades are a little harsh for my tastes, and can sound a bit "blowy". I think the nicest set that I've seen has been the road-legal Akrapovic system, but it ain't cheap. It sounds fantastic, and is plenty loud enough!

The Remus stuff also looks excellently made. ART and Scorpion are almost identical - adequate build quality, and cheaply priced. Blue Flame seem to have had a few problems with members of this forum, and I've never really heard many good things about them. Also, I don't think Treacle would recommend Arrows pipes

I have a Scorpion and people all tell me they love the sound of my SV. It also (apparently) doesn't need the engine settings etc changing if you have to put the stock can back on for MOT etc. (Is this right? I was told it by the guy I bought it from). No idea of price as it was on when I bought it.
