Coing upto 15 and a half K on the clock on my k3 and notice ever so slightly the "tappets" starting to knock. Does anybody out there have any info on changing the shims, and where I can buy them. Also are they set to standard sizes..

My limited experience would suggest it is very unusually for re-shimming to be required. Are you sure you have not got a noisy cam chain as "they all do that, sir"

Tim's right, the valves rarely go out of adjustment, the camchain tensioners however are often a bit lazy and need a little help to make them work right.
