Default FED UP, CARS SWITCHING LANES

is anybody else fed up with cars on motorways switching lanes without using signals just becasue the traffics moving slow in traffic jams?? i am, i almost got hit off today by some idiot in a bloody BM-****ing-W that decied not to check his mirrors (i know co i was looking at him in his own mirrors and he never caught my eye) and pull straight out in front of my when i was filtering less than one car length behind him. anyway, slammed on my brakes and pulled back, when the traffic stopped again, i knocked on his window and asked him why he didnt think it was necarssery to check his mirrors or signal and he gave me the finger, so i waited for him to drive off and wizzed past him and clained his left hand wing mirror. hehehe, i dont reckon he'll be doing that again.
anyone else get ****ed off by car drivers not checking to see if were about??

So you attack his car and then ride off.... if there was a witness to that you will get done if reported.....be more careful cos you never know ...he may see your bike parked sometime and it may tip over...he was being an ******* but u gotta think about how u handle that

great. now you ****ed him off he'll block more bikers deliberately.

I know its hard when the red mist descends but what concerns me reading this is why youre not questioning what you did. why youve assumed you have the right to go through without making sure its safe. why youre not riding expecting everyone to do the same?

when you approached him and concentrated on looking at his mirror and noting he wasnt checking, why wasnt this setting of defcon 1 alarms in your head and you slowing down preparing to stop?? you KNEW he wasnt checking his mirrors so why proceed if hes got a gap to go into when you knew he wouldnt look before you put yourself in that position? why were you still going so fast you had to slam your brakes on?

and will you be laughing if he noted your plate and presses for criminal damage? I doubt he'll be laughing when he knocks the next biker off cos he cant see them cos he now has no mirror to use

yes it ****es me off. immensely. but equally I expect it and ride accordingly and when you do, you find youre a lot smoother and less stressed.

next time, how about take a deep breath, imaging squirting brake fluid down the side of his car when you go past, smile that you COULD do it but you dont because youre better than that and ride on, knowing youre making progress while hes stuck in traffic.

its not worth risking the road rage. what would you do if something happens and he catches up with you and then deliberately knocks you off? youre the one thats going to get hurt. guess youre prepared to take that risk. personally I dont think I was in the right, he was wrong makes a good epitaph.

I was on the motorway with 2 other friends, me at the back being a newbie, all of us were over taking in the outside lane and we just over took this bm in the centre lane who was previously just driving regular speeds for the past mile or so. We doing 80 ish on overtake and making headway home to try and beat the rain. Then same bmw m5 decides to enter outside lane and cane it coming right up at the back of me within a few feet. By this time the other 2 riders have started to move back to centre so I follow. He then flys past at about a ton and pulls in front of us all, back in centre lane and takes up normal speed. Go figure....

Just face it that some drivers dislike bikes and some with 'poweful' cars seem to want to prove something to bikers. Some are just bad drivers and drive selfish on the roads like not checking or indicating.

I know how you feel, it winds me up but just take a deep breath. At the next set of lights you usually can filter though anyway and just leave all the muppet drivers behind you.

Up here its a toss-up between tractors & bloody caravans

I went with tractors because they used to pull over to let queues of traffic past, now they don't, the just belligerently lumber on with masses of drivers pulling their hair out behind

To be honest, I haven't had anybody switch lanes unexpectedly on me for quite a while. On the motorway, my main beef is people who have no clue that there's a queue 4 miles long behind them and they think it's ok to sit in the outside lane cos they're going 1mph faster than the car 1/4 of a mile ahead in the centre lane.

I go lorries - not cos they do it as often as cars but because when one does it scares the **** out of me - it's a long way foreward and a long way back if your only half way past

In similar situations I do normally make myself understod that one would have expected some sort of warning that they were going to change direction and therefore make me change speed or direction.

If the response is one that you usually get from BMW driving ********s then removal of mirrors for is fair play in my book... Anyway, with modern cars, if you just knock the mirrior bacwards it "unclips", leaving evertyhing in tact but you have to get out of the car to fix it - So it just becomes an inconvenience, nothing is actually danaged.

And like he's going to keep up with me in traffic

have done the mirror thing myself too

didn't think about it at the time, just clipped it in anger coz the tosser thought it ok to move over into my path without looking. Wouldn't do it if i thought about it but it is so damned annoying at the time ...

mmm... not justified..... That is well deserved when they have seriously put in danger your life. But you saw him coming... you shoud already know that even if the guy looks there is a big chance of him not seeing you!!!

My favourite is to slam with the palm open on the roof of the car when the lights are red... scares the s***t out of them and I don't think that is going to make them more bikerphobiac, a broken mirror does not make any favour to me!!!

Swear inside your helmet and continue putting attention. And congratulate yourself for seeing it coming!!!

breaking mirrors.... mmmmm..... naughty boys...
