Default Time to name and shame..... you have been warned !!

I bought my SV K1 in December last year and after I'd riden only 500 miles (8200 in total) in just 3 weeks the bladdy chain came off whilst I was on the motorway.

I rang the dealer who told me to f*ck off, called me a pr*ck for thinking my chain was covered on the warranty and then called me an internet paedophile because I had previously sent him an email (eh!!).

I rang Trading Standards who advised me no ends. It was a 'not fit the purpose in which it was intended' case so then it was off to the small claims court to persue. The courts ruled in my favour, he even ignored the court so a warrant was issued so bailiffs could go round and recover the cost of replacing my chain and sprockets... £271 including the court costs. He is still not paying up, he wasn't there when the bailiffs went so they now have to go back to the court to get another warrant to take stock equal to the £271. This guy is a complete prat. I've just checked his web site and he has over 400 000 grands worth of stuff in his showroom !!! You're not telling me £271 is a lot of money to him !!

Time to name and shame.

PLEASE PLEASE don't buy from this ass, you'll be sorry if anything goes wrong with your machine that you've worked bloody hard to buy !!! He also has a nice double spread in 'Biketrader'.

I part exchanged my Diversion 600 for the SV. When I saw the ad for my old bike I couldn't believe it. Dry use only.... yeah right, I used that bike all through winter in crap weather. Experienced rider... yeah right, I'd been riding (at the time of exchange) 9 months, garaged... yeah right, what garage, looked after well... yeah right, I'd done an oil change !!!! Says everything really......

Did you mention that to Trading Standards? He sounds like a complete cowboy. I wonder what else they'd find if they investigated him? An anonymous phone call to the Inland Revenue to suggest that he's fiddling his tax, might sort him out. If he's that dodgy, chances are that he is.

So lets all do an organised ride out and pay him a visit. Just siting outside warning potential customers worked a treat when I had "dealer" issues

I feel like I have misread something here but I always thought that second hand vehicles don't have any warranty unless the dealer specifically provides one and even then those warranties tend to cover major things and not wear and tear items like tyres, brake pads and of course chains?

I would have thought there would only be come back if he had misrepresented the goods and said that it had a new chain or something similar? If he describes it as a second hand bike with 7.5k on the clock then you take that to mean that certain things are worn and might need replacing. If it had a dealer warranty of some kind then the small print will list what is covered so there wouldn't be any dispute.

I'd love to know if and why I am wrong because I could find myself buying second hand from a dealer in the future - although to be honest I'd be more inclined to trust a private seller not least because you can see the type of person he is and how the vehicle is kept.

Nope not the case.

If you buy a bike privately you have no recourse at all but any purchase from a dealer and you have full cionsumer protection even if its a second hand vehicle.
