Default LED rear bulb - question

Hi

Looking at these LED bulbs on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/19-LED-STOP-TA...QQcmdZViewItem

Just wondering, I'm useless with electrics, will I need a resistor to use it? Looks to me like just a normal bulb fitment...

From the looks of it they have everything built in - but that's just from looking, I have no idea if this is the case or not.

I tried a set like this in my SV. due to the way the light of buld is reflected in the rear lenses it was cack. Almost half the light.... I've taken them out and cast them to the bottem of a box somewhere never to been seen again.

i'm carp at electronics too but i'm wondering why you think it would need a resistor?

My led cators flash fast cos of the current adn they need a resistor to stop them flashin so fast. But this is designed as a direct replacement for your rear light / brake light isnt it?

Surley it just comes on and off when you apply and relese the brake?
I have heard others who have not been too pleased with these but i cant remember why now. Sorry but hth in some way

They fit in the bulb holder in the normal way, and work just like a bulb, no resistor is necessary - that's only for indicators and in that case it's so that the flasher unit works at the right rate, the lighting works in the same way.

Two things:

If you want to fit these to a light from which you remove the lens on order to fit the bulb there will be no problems, however if it's the sort of light where you remove the bulbholder from the back of the lamp, like curvy indicators for example, you must make sure that the LED 'bulb' will fit through the hole, some of them are too large.

If your bike has a clear section in the rear light lens to light the number plate, then you'll need to find LED 'bulbs' that have a ring of side facing LEDs around the lamp, LEDs are quite directional and the one in the illustration has only rear facing LEDs.

I was being silly, I then realised its only for indicators. Bit silly now I've got myself one on the off chance lol

Was just wanting to try LED rear light to experiment really. I'm not sure what I'll do about the numberplate light to be honest... how can I get around that?

I will buy myself a clear lens to see what it looks like with the LED bulb in it anyway.

many others just install a couple of white leds to shine down onto the plate.

I have a couple of similar bulbs but with a ring of LEDs round the side to work with the reflector, going cheap. £10 delivered to a good home.
