Howdy folks, not been on for a while.
Lets talk rust! Where to start: - bottom yolk, now almost looks like an aftermarket gold yolk cause it's so damn discoloured! ![]() - foot peg pivots, orange - hamicad fender, black paint has come off and it's now corroded - bolts, don't get me started on the friken bolts!! ![]() Taken good care of your baby or it will end up looking pretty damn poor looking in less than 2 years!! Anyway, point of the post. On Sunday while cleaning up the bike I noticed that my front brake side disc was badly rusted. On closer inspection it's just rusty water that's dripped down from the front spindle which is totally brown in colour. I cleaned this up and it was looking good until I notice this morning that there is rusty brown water splattered all over the disc and wheel again!! This was on dry roads!!! My problem is this is only on the brake side of the bike not the clutch side!?! I don't mind cleaning this up but could it show up a barring problem or something? Perhaps I've been too liberal with the hose when cleaning the front of the bike and loads of water is in the barring? Riding ok by the way. |

Bearing?
![]() It won't be water in the bearing. You don't hose/powerwash bearings because it can remove the grease, but they won't retain water like that. Does the K3 have a hollow spindle? I suppose it's remotely possible that you have water inside the hub... Doesn't seem very likely though. I'd bet a pount it's not that. But I dpn't really have any alternatives for you I'm afraid... So, are you going to get that Z750 then?

Hey Northy,
so unlikey to be the bearing then? I guess it's just the combo of salt, poor maintainence by me and cheap SV spindle. nice one. I've noticed the spindle on clutch side of the bike isn't exposed (it's covered by part of the fork (you know me, not very technical!). thanks for the reassurance. as for next bike, definately trading up in March/April and definately going naked!! ![]() how's your bike by the way? is it green yet? |

Ssh!
It's about 2/3 sprayed... Though some of that wants redone. It's getting there though. I've not done anything on it for a week or so though, I've just lost all enthusiasm for some reason ![]()
