Default Mutiple Bike NCB question

I'm considering getting another bike to use as a practical means of transport, now that my car is written off. I've encountered the "you can't use 1 previous NCB on two bikes, you can only use it on one". I was already aware of this (doesn't stop it being illogical/irritating, mind...), but wondered if anyone could answer the following:

Say I keep both bikes, next year, will I be in the position of still only being able to have 1 NCB (albeit this time 2 years, rather than one), or will I have 1 (SV) at 2 years, the other bike at 1 year? Similarly, if I choose to get rid of one of the bikes after 1 year, will the ncb on the remaining bike be 3 years (2+1), or just 2 years?

I know my insurer should be able to answer this, but given the difficulty they had in grasping what crash bungs are ("Crash buns?" ) I thought someone in the know here might be able to give a clearer answer.

As ever, thanks in advance. Ceri.

Fat chance. The only thing you can know for sure about the vagaries of the insurance fatcats is that nothing will ever work to your advantage. All loop holes are in fact wormholes that burrow into your bank account and suck up the money. They are all one way.

Yes - for instance I have a car with 9+ NCD, and van a with 1 NCD, a trail bike with 8 NCD, and the SV with no NCD at all.
Since the trail bike comes up for renewal in Feb, the intention is to go with ebike insurance, who will allow up to 4 bikes on the policy, so I will put the trail and the SV with them using the high NCD, ( the SV will be double insured for a while ), and then I can then get a third bike without having to get a new policy.

Similarly Norwich Union Bike Gold (not the same as NU Direct) allows up to 4 bikes on the policy, the premium is according to the highest risk/grouping bike, then you can add up to 3 more bikes. Bikes with a value less than £1k are free, above that it's about 1.5% of the value over £1k (so £2k value costs about £15).

I have 4 bikes on my policy, the Deauville is a higher sub group 10 than the SV, there's an old BMW90S (£3k) and a small bike less than £1k. Total premium including Euro breakdown, annual foreign use and legal stuff, £185.

Read your T&Cs carefully - if you hold 2 insurances on 1 vehicle neither will pay out in the case of a claim, stop 1 policy when the new 1 starts or your in trouble.

Cant see anything that makes a mention but I'll allow the SV insurance to expire before adding it - ta ( unless I sell it first...)
