Default Tailpack Bungie cord on K4 Naked

I have put the Oxford sports tailpack on my k4 Naked and am a little concerned that the bungie cord will rub against the side of the bike bodywork.

Has anyone else experienced this and have ideas on how to make the bungie not so abbrasive? (ie: can you get a felt cover for the bungie cord?)

Any advice greatlyfully received.

Cheers
Wheelie

Use the Oxford blanket or anything similar which is like a rubber mesh you cut to size and protects the paintwork. Use one on my tank when using the tank bag. Not one mark on the tank from the tank bag

Flat bungees are better for this... I get some cheap gaffa tape (well, my brother would be angry if I call the cheap stuff gaffa, but I don't care), stick it to myself a few times to decrease the stick, then splatch it on everywhere the cords might go, couple of layers do the trick.

It's amazing how much damage compression straps and bungees can do, I've got a tiny tailbag that I use sometimes, that fits with 2 compression straps wrapped around the pillion seat. Went for a 4 hour ride with nothing in it but a digi camera, and it ate straight through the paint on my seat hump and rubbed away a mm of plastic

You can get a full kit from these people

http://www.thetankslapper.biz/online...store/main.htm

that has plastic covers for the rear paint work. Stops the scuffing from straps, pillion legs etc.

I have one of the oxford blanket things but the girlfiends dad used to use sections of thin pipe insulation with a slit cut in them and just slips them over the staps.

I got one of those sticky blanket things from my local Morrisons for 99p - for a square metre of the stuff. Cut it to size & drape it over, problem solved

Except that you may find the bungies start to remove the paint from the grabrail - mine was worn through to bare metal in about a month

Is this Gaffa tape the same as electrical insulation tape and would it peel the paint off when you remove it?

Gaffa's cloth tape, widely used in theatre and similiar areas... So I can nick rolls of it off my brother Any think tape would work. Electric tape woul be fine, won't strip paint but can leave a sticky residue and goes funny in the wet. Duck tape would be ideal I think, since it's also waterproof...
