You can get it back, ask them how much they'll let you have it for
After my recent prang I was charged the excess & then something that must have been about 40% of the bikes value ![]() So if you want to get it back on the road, you have to weigh up how much it is likely to cost to get it roadworth again, against how much the insurers are going to give you. Also I guess it will seriously affect the resale value |

Cat A & B are the terminal ones - DVLA require proof of destruction because the bikes are too damaged to go back on the road. Cat A is whole bike must be crushed. Cat B is you can break for some spares.
Cat C & D you can buy back to repair/break. Depends on what the C is for. Generally, its for significant structural damage. In a few cases it just could be the % cost to repair is so high it doesnt warrant a lower % that Cat Ds are. HTH. |

Just hang out for a good price and cut &run NO repeat no --bike that has been badly binned is ever going to be worth the same value when it comes to resale if the buyer does an hpi on it and finds out it is a catC As for buying it back to sell off as spares it is probably more agro than its worth ------------but the choices are yours So many good offers out there at the moment you would be spoiled for choice
