Default Xbox Game - Moto GP3

Well, after watching the development of this and eagerly awaiting its release, this somehow slipped out under my radar. First thing I new it had been released was when I saw it going cheap in the pre-owned section of blockbuster at the weekend.

Not quite as realistic handling as MotoGP2 if I recall correctly (and certainly not a patch on PS2 - TT Superbikes), but still more realistic than arcadey. The analog triggers are superb for fine brake control though.

The "depth of focus" style blurring on the replays is stunning and I don't understand why it's not used throughout the replay. I can emphasise how much more realistic this makes it look. I seldom watch replays on games unless I've done something truly amazing/lucky, but with this is brilliant and I end up watching at least part of the replay of every race I win.

Gameplay wise, aside from the accurate Moto GP riders/bikes/tracks, there's an excellent addition of a streetracing league. As well as the usual sportsbikes and hayabusa/zx12-r clones (all fictional bikes in this mode), there are some great 600cc streetfighters. There's also basic tuning/setup options for each of the bikes, although no aesthetic ones other than paintwork.

If anyones interested, play.com have it for £17 or thereabouts in their sale.

MotoGP2 on Xbox built up a fair sized cult following online, but I'd have to say maybe around half of those core fans haven't been so impressed with GP3. The extreme mode is good fun for sure, but there's something lacking for sure with the full GP mode compared to the last game.

Much more exciting is MotoGP 2006 for the Xbox360, due in May this year, and featuring all the tracks and riders from the current season (GP3 was based on the 2004 season even though it was released last year!).

Incidentally, for anyone with Xbox or Xbox 360 and a live account, there's a great website called www.xboxliveaddicts.co.uk that runs regular leagues of all sorts of game types (MotoGP2 & 3, Halo 2, Pro Evo Soccer, PDZ, Project Gotham 3). It's also features the THQ & Climax (MotoGP game producer and developer) sanctioned forums. Plug over!

I don't like motogp3, too arcadey. A lad on the 125 forum has Tourist Trophy which looks awesome, much better than any other bike game out currently. There is somehting like motogp '06 coming for the Xbox 360 which I should be getting when it comes out.
