Hey guys,

Hope you are all well.

I was having a browse on t'internet and found this: (follow link)

Anyone here tried it? Is it bullsh*t or worth a try???? I've never tweeked or tuned or anything like that so just wondered if any other likeminded people have had a go??

Yes, many have done this, have a search about for TRE or similar.

There won't be an enormous change if you remove the 2nd and 3rd retard wires, but in reality as the timing is twiddled in order to pass noise regs it's performance, albeit minor, you'll get for free.

If an SV650 has a flat tyre in the forest and no-one is there to blow it up, how long will it be 'til someone posts that the reg/rec is duff and the world will end unless a CBR unit is fitted? A little bit of knowledge = a dangerous thing.

This has been discussed before and the jury is still out.

I did mine a long time ago and can't remember it being a huge difference. Others have had their bike dyno'd before and after with no visible improved power curve.

However, as the article states, it must retard the engine enough to pass the tests at time of manufacture, so any improvement is worthwhile when it's free and easily returned to normal in 5 mins.
