Default First 'proper' ride of SV

I took my wife's SV out today as the weather was great. I had intended to go out on my 1200GS but it wouldn't start Fortunately the SV has been on an optimate all winter so started up straight away. A quick check, do the tyres and off I went.

First outing in 3 weeks due to the purchase of a Z4

The roads were wet to start with as I set off on the Yorkshire Version of the Nurburgring. Setting of from Leeds, I headed up to Menwith Hill via Poole in W, then down to Summerbridge, Pately Bridge and on to Grassington. As I headed towards the A59 via Cracoe the roads started to dry and I was getting more confident with the bikes handling. It's amazing what a little bit of body movement does to improve the cornering. The roll on in 3rd from 40 to 90 is fantastic a buzz.

Anyway as I headed back up the A59 towards Harrogate I was starting to get really comfortable with the bike and the bike was flying upi th hill past Storiths towards Blubberhouse - get to 6/7000 rpm and its a flying machine!

Then the final twisty back into Otley on dry roads and I was kinda glas the GS didn't start.

Hopefully now that I have a good balst it'll help me gives some tips to the missus as she's a bit nervous at the minute after a lay-off to have our two daughters.

Its amazing how smooth the delivery is and how effective the engine breaking is. I'm sure she' going to grow to love this bike.

Roll on the spring!

Here. here, roll on spring.

Sounds like you had a great time.

Mine is still restricted to 33 hp so anything above 7000 is not the full potential. I plan to get it derestricted when it goes in for the 4000 mile service, in 2000 miles time.
I intend to do the 2K in the 1st couple of months from March onwards.

I also want to start relaxing and enjoying the bike and gain more experience in what it is capable of doing.
Just not quite there yet, but looking forward to clocking up the miles and experience.

I don't mind spring (glad for it to get warmer at four in the morning!), but I have been riding over winter to, its not been that bad, except for the some snow and ice, which I picked up very quickly how to ride in weather like that

I have only been riding for a little over six months with my K5, but I love her to bits and certainly going to stick with her for a while.

All I have to do now is get a decent end can on her!

Whilst I want something quicker I will be really sad when I eventually trade in the SV as I really do love it. Agree about the 3rd gear roll on, it seems to go on forever.

If I had kids I would quit riding though, not get back into it.

I always enjoy an early morning ride!

Seriously I work odd hours in IT trade in London, I am usually in very early and usually home rather late as well.

Cheers
