Default Filtering in the UK to be banned

Just read in the MCN that this nanny state government is thinking of banning motorcyclists from traffic filtering

Along with the proposed ideas of satellite speed limiters on bikes within 10 years If you've ever driven a HGV and tried to pass another vehicle, then the limiter kicks in, it's scary (especially when there's oncoming traffic..., and the person you're trying to pass won't back off the throttle to let you back in ). It would increase the number of bikers killed dramitically.

This is proof that this f**k up nanny state government hates bikes, and wants to kill off motorcycling. What's the point of owning a bike if you can't overtake a slower vehicle (speed limiter) and you can't filter through traffic. That's the time to give up biking and become a cager for life... yet more traffic and pollution problems..

rant over... what do you think??

I think it is MCN doing their usual trick of making something up then in 2 weeks later printing that it won't happen

Not really workable.

Define filtering...

Riding between two stationary lanes on dual carriageway?

Overtaking slow moving vehicles by using the oncoming lane on single carriageway?

Overtaking stationary vehicles by using the oncoming lane on single carriageway?

Undertaking a vehicle that is stationary in the road because it wants to turn right into a side road?

You would have to ban everyone in every vehicle from overtaking or undertaking on single carriageway and that would hurt those on four wheels as much as those on two so it won't happen.

i don't know why people bother to read MCN, it's about as useful as The Sport for reliable news... someone should have a word...

Unworkable.

Probably is not allowed currently.
Its more a matter of policing as to what is regarded a careless or not.
Blatant carelessness and a prejudged manouver are 2 differnet things and that is what needs to be considered by the law enforcers.

(brain has gone blank, can't seem to spell manouver).
