You meant the jack-up plates? I've got a set on mine, and also a longer shock. Raising the tail basically destabilises the bike- faster to turn in, faster to react, but you might find some negative stability ffects too. It'll make the spring seem a little softer too.

I went from the Ohlins back to the standard one for a few weeks back, and didn't change back to standard linkages... It could feel just a little flighty at full power. Never threatened to slap or lose control, but if it was combined with a bad surface I think it possibly could have. Not enough to lose sleep over really, and to be fair my full power is a bit more than your full power, most likely

Thanks for the reply northwind, yeah my bikes engine is standard apart from the fuel can and i am fairly new to bikes, this sv being my first proper bike.

So would you say the jack up kit should be ok or is it not worth it, id rather not spend £30 if i fit them and they make the bike too unstable and have to remove them and chuck them in the bin, i do not have the cash at the moment to upgrade the rear shock.

Your advise is appreciated

Wouldnt that only happen if you have a longer shock, not though changing dog bones?

Nah, it's basically more to do with the weight distribution I think. I forget the science part

jayjay, don't worry about it- I mentioned it just for completeness, I reckon it's both worth having and unlikely to cause you problems. And at £30... You could resell them if you don't likeit and get most of it back, and fitment's not too difficult.

(you do need to be able to completely uncompress the shock to do it- ie, you can't do it on a paddock stand. You need to suspend the rear, or use an ABBA stand or similiar. lots of ways to do it though

Personally I would buy the dog bones from a reputable manufacturer because you wouldn't want them to fail would you?
