Default Bennetts Insewrance

phoned last week & cancelled my renewal with Bennetts as wanetd over 600 quid & got insurance half the price from some one else .

Just checked bank account & noticed I was completley over drawn , spoke to Halifax as thought that I had fraudelent transactions ( had this last November it is a sh#t thing to happen trust me !)

Halifax say that payment is from Bennetts insurance !!!!!
Spoke to bennetts who said that they had renewed policy & it was in the post !!!!!!!
I said that I had phoned & cancelled a week ago !
Bennetts said I had got to return policy to Bennetts before they will refund amount.
I was not happy with this & spoke to manager who said that refund would be carried out Monday can't do today .
I am putting in a official complaint
I am not happy .............

F##king Bennetts

Bennets has really gone downhill since being bought out a year or so ago ( )
My latest renewal has just come through for my gsx 250.....
auto renewal unless you tell them otherwise.
Also cancelled my insurance on the SV 1000... 6 months still to run, so I checked (by telephone) they're cancellation policy. I was told that it would cost me a £30.00 charge to cancel..... ok fair enough thought I,as I would stil be saving over 300 quid in premiums for my other bikes. (eBike multi policy)

Then while I was away on holiday, I got a letter asking for £105.00 to cancel. As I was away, I didnt reply and they have now sent it to a debt collection agency.
I used to reccomend Bennets to all who asked, and was a long term customer of theirs.

Not now

i had a simalir account with HIGHWAYS! i purchased a bike and paid nearly £1000 by switch(debit) for the deposit, the bike sale fell through cuz my part x was a cat c insurance write off and i didnt know HIGHWAYS then instead of crediting my account with the £1000 they debit'd it again!! and i went in the red and loads of things got messed up because i did'nt have a overdraft!!nor 2k spare in the bank! HIGHWAYS wasnt intrested they just said they'd put the problem right and it would take a few days for the money to go back into my account! more like a week

bad about bennetts tho! usually they are ok.

I have just had two policies expire with bennetts, after first a reminder then followed a warning that I no longer had insurance and was illegal. ( However, already with ebike). They never attempted to take money from me though.

Never had a problem with Bennetts but I have swapped to E-bike because of the deal with California Superbike School.

If Bennetts want the certificate back before they credit you, surely that is normal?

There are some dodgy people around

My argument was I never requested insurance renewal , policy has been cancelled therefore paper work is useless , with the speed of snail mail ( still not received paperwork) it could 2 weeks to get 600 quid back which leaves me in the sh#t through no fault of my own .....

cheers Steve

guys, i had the same problem but with car insurance,
i contacted my natwest branch and asked why they let the money go out of my account without my knowledge. i really went to town on them threatening to take it further as i had not signed up for a direct debit with this insurance company.
later that day i called the insurance and asked why they had taken out the money and they then stated they automatically renew insurance after sending a renewal quote.
i said that without my signature they couldn't do anything and for them to refund my money asap.
i later got a call off the bank saying they have sent a request for my money back and within 24hrs it will be back in my account and as a apology they said they will credit my account £10 for the mis-understanding.
this was the first time i have heard of natwest giving money away like this. so you should get onto them about it and maybe you will get something back.
