Default Question - repair, pleasssse!!

Right, wondering is it better to use that green gunk in a bottle then pull the nail out of my tyre, get it repaired professionally or get some sort of kit to repair the tyre. I know that BMW's came with them i heard, but I dont exactly know what they are, some sort of make hole bigger, glue, and bung. Are there kits available to repair tyres without removing the tyre from the wheel?? or am i just imagining it and how effective are they?

cheers for any help

You really should get the tire removed and plugged properly.

You can get external "get you home kits", but they really are just to get you home with speed restrictions etc.

I guarantee that someone will now tell us how they have done 150mph and 6000 miles on a "get you home" repair........

I had my rear tyre repaired properly at a garage which cost me £35. I used it for a further 5000 miles and never had a problem with it. It's worth getting it done properly.

Mate, get it done properly, its well worth while.

I pay around about £25-30 for a ride in ride out repair.

SORRY....that was a prime example of my 2 year old son making more sense than me.
what i was trying to say is with tyre repairs are we talking curvy or pointy tyres?
when i had my rear tyre replaced on my 03 pointy i was contemplating getting a bottle of that puncture seal
the firm that fitted my tyre advised against doing so as he said that it DID upset the balance of the tyre,he also said seeing as they fit z-rated tyres to my bike that no one would be prepared to do a repair on tyres and that the general concensus was that people were starting to refuse repairs on tyres as a rule
could this just be a prime example of trying to get more money out of you or has anyone else heard this

IS there any advice on this puncture sealprevention stuff/gunk, have used it before but after a while all came out and made it a slow puncture.

Cheers
Ash

There is no way on earth that I would ever consider a DIY repair like this. You have to go the professional route if you truly value your life!
