Here goes.
If you look through the frame on the right hand side of the bike (that's the right hand side as you are sat on it) there is a brass nipple which has a tube attached to it. I thought it was a vacuum hose at first, but couldn't find it when I consulted the manual. Does anyone know what it is and what it does? Was wondering as I was after using this ere nipple for my Scottoiler rather than cutting into one of the rubber hoses. Hope someone knows what I'm on about. ![]() ![]() |

Fuel pump.
There are 3 lines on it. 1 from the carbs to drive it. 1 from the tank 1 to the T splitter to fuel the carbs. I spliced the tube that goes to the fuel valve.

This is the diagram you should be looking at.
Part 12 is fuel pump. There are two connections on the edge of the pump and one on the front. I beleave the one marked 19 is the vac. The one on the front, you cant see it clearly in this diagram, but if you see between the two edge pipes then you will just see it and that I beleave is the fuel to the carbs and the large brass connector is from the fuel tank. This is AFAIK, i have only ever removed the fuel pipe when taking the carbs and fuel tank off. ![]()

That was the diagram that I was looking at, but didn't seem to tally up with the nipple I was referring to. I'll try get a picture to show exactly what I mean.

I think on mine the brass nipple is not a right angle bend, but more like a 20-30deg bend.
Remember that diagram is USA. For the scottoiler just use the vac pipe from the fuel tank to the rear carb.

I have a feeling that this nipple I'm referring to is only applicable for the FI bikes. Just had a check on the Scottoiler site for the destructions, if you see here (direct link to Adobe file) it shows what I think is the self same nipple.
I presume that this is not needed on the FI bikes but is on the carbed ones? |

Ahh yep the curveys do have that as well but in a diffrent place. Lift the tank, look behind the rear carb, there should be a pipe running from the bottom neck of the carb to the fuel tank.
Well there is one of thoes on the front which are not being used and have a small back cap on it. It is used to balance the carbs, the one one the rear is used but you just cut the pipe and use the T peice.

So if I fancied it, I could use the nipple on the front carb then rather than the T piece? |
