Default Happy birthday to the Queen

You can send your own greeting to Her Majesty here (true, not a jape)

Thx for pointing that out Ed.However, somehow such an action is way down on my list of priorities.

Traitorous dog. Take that man to the tower, and don't be too careful about it.

I would do, but I'm too busy preparing for the revolution.

Being somewhat far from being a Monarchist,I do disagree with GYKD. The Monarchy even in this modern world can have a vital role to play.

Obviously not living in the U.K. anymore I see much more of another Royal family which frankly puts the British one to shame.

The Royal Family here were brought back by popular demand after the fall of the Franco regime and the image that they portray is truly impressive. Obviously there is certain protocol which must be followed but there are on many occasions displays of a genuine human nature. Too many to outline but two that immediately spring to mind are:

King Juan Carlos attended a Tennis final last year to watch Rafa Nadal. Following his victory Rafa approached the King who reached down to HUG him and for the King to be seen to say to Rafa that he had a new grand daughter born a few hours earlier. Very human.

Such displays of affection for sporting personalities are not rare from the Royal Family here. Another amusing one was recently on a visit to a town in Northern Spain, the King and Queen where up on a balcony looking out at the crowds in the plaza below, the band played and the crowd danced about. They called and insisted that the King join in. He did a very brief, but much welcomed little jig to raptuurous applause and cheers. Can you imagine that horrible human being Prince Phillip doing that?

On another issue it was King Juan Carlos who urged his friend the boss of Telefonica to "help out the boys in motorcycle racing" which was the catalyst for their involvemnt in the sport.

But something that really stood them apart from the British Royal Family is that the crown Prince Filipe, married a girl who was a TV news presenter and had been previously married. Protocol was not being followed at all here, especially in a Catholic country. However the Prince stood firm and anounced that his priority was,"to marry for love and nothing more." Feathers were ruffled somewhat in certain halls, but the over whelming reaction from the Spanish people was one of approval.Somewhat different than that sham of a first marriage that Prince Charles was involved in?

*All of the above can be totally disregarded as no doubt it is all B.S.*

Useless titbit...Did you know that the Spanish Royal Family ALWAYS converse with each other in English?

I'm with PH on this one.

The amount of time she spends travelling the world on goodwill missions has a hidden benefit of generating income for the country in tourism revenues, trade and bunting sales.

Edit: - Happy birthday by the way; She's actually 160 since she has two birthdays a year.
