Default SV650S K4 AIR BOX Modification

Hi,

I've got a SV650S K4, with a Carbon Blueflame Exhaust and a K&N airfilter. I;ve heard that modifying the airbox will give me a couple of extra BHP. Is this true? and if so how do I modify it?

Also, would I benefit from fitting a power commander to increase the BHP? I spoke with Blueflame and they said the cost of a PC doesn't reflect in the power increase.

Bit of help please peeps.

Many thanks

dump the K and N and fit a BMH filter. Lift the front of the tank by 15mm
A power commander just makes the job of extracting Hp from ya bike a bit simpler given the tuner has a dynojet dyno

the power commander will give you a bit more bhp, but make the bike much smoother accross the rev range, but for £300 or whatever it is to get one on , its a lot of dosh for the benefit, but if you fancy it itll be cool, you can always take it off and put it on your next bike later

Get a PiperCross and take off the complete top of the air box

This helps the curveys as the breather is in the top of the airbox, but the pointys have an airbox intake down the bottom through the short pipe or "snorkle" so I wouldn't have thought this would help unless combined with Mike's advice, even then the chuffing great holes in the frame would be enough with the top of the box missing to give breathing room. Some people fit SV1000 "Snorkles" but no idea how much difference it makes.

Please note, never tuned an SV, just helped work on a couple.

i found fitting the 1000 snorkle didnt really make much of a change, but taking the snorkle out was much better in sound, not to sure about performance to be honest

I have a P.C. on mine,does feel different,especially mid-range.
I was lucky,got mine 2nd hand from 'latts650s',(Cheers mate!),and got it for £150.
Well pleased with it,next mod,Pipercross induction kit.

I was wondering if anyone runs with 'Trumpets' on the throttle bodies??!!

I though you had to buy the right power commander for your particular bike.

Yeah you do,only because of the wiring harness. But I think you can download any 'map' you like, from any make of bike.

Shame they didn't make the Looms connectible to the P.C. instead of being permanently attached.
