Hi,
I've nearly been riding for a year now and have booked myself in for my first Track day in June, However before i do the track day i think my tires need to be replaced as they're fairly warn and are the original tyres. However I'm unsure which tyre to go for due to the fact that as I'm a fairly new rider I'm probably not the fastest thing on the road, and probably don't push the tyres to their limits anyway. However providing all goes well on my first track day, I intend to do several more track days this year. I have looked at all the different advise over the site, but I'm unsure what type of tire i should go for, for example Diablo, or the more sporty Diablo Corsas?(this is just an example I haven't decided on Pirelli or any other make, although Metzelers sound quite good?). Any advise would be much appreciated as my knowledge is fairly limited. Cheers |

IMO there's little point in Corsas for the road- they'll actually be worse than the plain Diablos in many conditions- cold or wet weather in particular. And most people won't use the extra traction, since Diablos provide a lot for road use. Visibility and surface are more likely to be your limiting factor for safe road riding, unless you life somwehere withno hedges or hills
![]() Metzeler's Sportec M1 is a good tyre too, comparable to the Diablo. Usually I'd say to get Stradas or Roadtecs instead... But I've no intention of doing another trackday with a Roadtec front, so I'll not ![]()

whenever I turned up for track days with Diablo's on the instructors would always say they were a perfect tyre - the stickier tyres don't really come in to play unless you are really hammering it with the fast boys and they don't last as long, plus the Diablo's are good in the wet in comparison. I'm sure the BT014, M3 and Pilot Powers are just as good thought - oops, and Avon Viper Sports of course (just in case Steve is reading!). I have the Viper SuperSports on at the moment which are very nice
