Default Ancient Suzuki: '77 GS550 D

A mate of mine has decided to try and get a 1977 GS550 D back on the road. Does anyone have any spares knocking around or can offer any help?

Can't offer any help myself, but I'm sure there's plenty of people on the SOC site who would have some advice: http://www.suzukiownersclub.co.uk/forum/default.asp

That'd be easier, he can throw all the rest away and just fit the battery

lol, I think it might be a case of what's right with it.

Basically he has had to sell his bike (Suzuki 1400 I think) as he can't afford to run it anymore, he has the remains of two bikes in his garden shed, one of which is the GS550 D which has the possibility of becoming roadworthy with a lot of attention. Its the only way he is going to be able to afford (and his missus to allow him) to get back on the road. He is after any sources of help and/or spare bits.

Tell him to junk the front end in favour of an early GSXR one, the back wheel for an early gsxr 18 incher and what else could go wrong..
I mean it's an air cooled motor it needs sparks, fuel and oil. I wish I had one

Your friend might find this site really useful

http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

It's American, but the part numbers will all be the same, and the technical drawings are really clear and easy to follow.

I wish him good fun and sucess
