Default Warning lights

Hey folks, when I setout on my bike yesturday I noticed that one of the lights on the display flashed what I think was 3 times, (I can't remember which light because I was concentrating on the road and traffic at the time). Immediately after the rev and speedo dropped to 0 in a very controlled manner and then back up to normal again.

The bike is a 99 SV650S.

Someone told me that it might be an engine management warning or something. Is the bike still safe to ride?

AFAIK there's no injection, hence no engine management, until the K3 (2003) model so it can't be that.

cheers

Jamie

Probably just a loose connection or corrosion. Unplug the front loom and used WD40 to clean the contacts. I have recently had that problem.
