Default Leather or textile?

I have always preferred the traditional leather option myself, perhaps I am just kinky? but see more and more people wearing textile protective gear.

What are the advantages of textile?

One thing that puts me off textile is that the ones I have tried on tend to ‘move’ quite a bit, therefore any protective paddings effectiveness is presumably potentially/probably reduced?

Who is textile through and through and who is a traditionalist like me and will only wear leather?

Ive got a set of both, and it it makes any sence i prefere my leather jeans and my textile jacket. I dont like how my leather jacket is quite tight on me, and i find my textile one id more waterproof, warmer, cooler (removable lining) and generaly more comfortable

its got an additional back protector in, sholder and elbow armour, and loads of usefull pockets.

infact i think the armour in my textile is better than the stuff in my leather, IF i was to have an off id rather be wearing my textile jacket than my leather one (but my leather jeans not my textile ones)

I too have a set of both, however I prefer riding in my leathers. I feel safer in them, possibly because of the fit and thickness of the leather verses the perceived flimsyness fo the textiles.

That said, I only commute on my bike very occaisonally, so I'm sure the frustration of getting wet and cold in leather, not to mention being able to squeeze into textiles with normal clothes underneath to make for a quick change at work, would change my mind.

So for me its leather, because it gets me in the mood for going on a ride ... part of my ride routine (like that Seat advert that's on at the moment)

Rigor

P.S. I also like leather 'cause I'm kinky that way

As I've meet you I would say your just kinky.

But I use both, I tend to use the textile more in the winter, but as the weather gets better I use the leather trousers (with over trousers in the bike incase of a storm).
I do feel more confident in the leather, but that due to it having more armour, hips, shins, and knees. I've come off in both and they seem to both work fine, though the textile jacket did tear rather a bit, where as the leather seems to have just rubbed.

I like my leather trowsers, i ride, crash & many a time sleep with them on and forget to take them off. Now the sleeping in them is not a kink thing just as i dont plan ahead and end up on freinds sofas over night. Now all the above has lead to nice a supple leather that is realy smooth to the touch on the rear. I like them. Not the jacket though, its too tight and little pocket space, plus makes me look gay, not that i have anything against that or that other people think that i am anyway but still i dont realy like it. I prefer my tried and tested textile jacket that keeps me warm when i need to be and safe when tarmac meets jacket.

I only wear textiles when its too cold for leathers, leathers the rest of the time. Leathers give better protection as long as you get the right fit - too baggy and they burn on the slide like textiles due to the folding. If textiles offered the same protection the racers would wear them in the wet instead of the plastic oversuits over the leathers. My textiles do have better pockets though!

Mix of both... Usually I wear textile trousers over jeans or work clothes, plus a leather or textile jacket depending on the weather. But this would be mainly because I don't much like my leather trousers, while I do like my Belstaffs- also, the cordura has better armour in.

During the winter, though, I never wear leather- primary safety's more important than secondary. IE, I'd rather not crash because I'm soaked and freezing, than get soaked and freezing but have superior crash protection

Have both and while i always wear the leather jacket unless it is really cold i for some reason wear my hood jeans a lot more than the leather trousers. Yes my leather trousers offer more protection but i feel more comfy in the jeans....will prob ride to Alsace in France in the jeans!

Wet - Textiles, not riding fast engouh to slide tooooo much Leather trousers get cold, saturated (after a while) then take days to dry out.

I can put my textiles on, get soaked (Well, not actually wet), leave them to dry for the next morning/ride home and they are fine. PLus as said, has inner lining on the trousers, inner lining on the jacket, elbow, back protector etc...

But

My leather trousers give me much more confidence and feel more comfy when riding.

I haven't got a leather jacket to comment...
