MOTORWAY HELL!! - SV650.org

Just come out of J16 onto the M5 motorway, straight onto the outside lane, caning it to about 70 (honest) and then ......... No drive! The chain had come off, ouch, undercut two cars and onto the hard shoulder. luckily had AA recovery and recovered it back to my flat in bristol.

The chain had caught round the swinging arm, so still have it in decent nick, fully scottoiled and hardly worn. I know do not have a split link to get it back on the road.

I broke my chain rivettor kit and always use split links anyway as easier, the chain is Iris,
i was wondering if any will fit or is there anyway of getting a replacement for it
or
has anyone got an iris O-ring chain and doesnt need their link could they please email it to me,

i dont see the point of wasting a chain and sprocket that are in good nick, please help!!! Will pay for it and postage if anyone does have one and if you live nearby il even buy ya a drink!

i meant the split link failed, and ive had dozens of chains in really bad condition and not adjusted properly, but this chain was kept in best nick with full scottoiler system and regularly adjusted, thats why i was suprised when it failed. Anyway, resolved my issue from extensive internet search and getting replacements sent

Get it properly riveted when you find your kit or take it to be done. Thankfully this time it was not bad.

i think i know what the problem was.

you were using a split link that somebody had emailed you.

if you dont call up the protocol correctly the link is useless.

its a downside of these new fangled electronic 'links'

i heard somewhere that its not good to use a split link on anything bigger than a 125.

the split link is designed to get you to a dealer so they can rivett your chain properly i believe.

thats the only time i would use one, and it take it pretty easy on one.
