Default Have just registered on

Pepipoo as I passed a mobile camera just as I was getting to the end of the Edinburgh bypass @ the Gyle...

Bu***r, 65 in a 50 (I think) Hopefully the operators were having a donut break and didn't catch my reg. I don't think the fact that my speedo over-reads by about 10% is going to help me this time - 59mph

I dont think you should mention that in court. Might be illegal.

it's not illegal for a speedo to over-read, most do.. it's illegal for them to under-read.

Theres some good stuff on there, But I think you have to be prepared to really follow it through if you are going to try and use some off the advice on there to get away with it.

If you're not facing a ban I think its best to just take it on the chin and pay the fine and take the points.

Am not going to get into an argument over this with the authorities - I would love to but is not worth the PT. Besides the camera operator might have been having a donut break

In my defence there was somebody following me far too closely and it would have been dangerous to make the transition from 70 to 50 there, especially as I was already in the slow lane! I do not normally speed!!!

The stuff I read was mainly about PACE. It looked to me that this involved mostly arguing with the authorities and I decided it just wasnt worth it.

And PACE is not valid in ye olde Scotchland. The authorities just seem to be allowed to do what they want. Which is against the European law on human rights or some such. Hopefully I can just avoid the Pearl Harbour syndrome...

Was the mobile van parked up in the lay-by just before you get to the roundabout at the Gyle? It's a favourite spot for them to park up as they're really difficult to spot until it's too late. Of course if they wanted to prevent speeding, as they claim, then they would select a much more visable location.

On a similar note I discovered recently that my cousin was pulled for doing exactly the same speed, in exactly the same place, by exactly the same police officer, but was only given a warning and sent on their way. Exactly the opposite of my 3 points and £60 fine some 3 weeks earlier.

Perhaps I should get breast implants as that would appear to be the only discernible difference between the two situations!

That's definately a 50

I have a thought... I don't know if there's any repeaters between there and the M8 junction, but if there's not, then if that 50mph sign were to go missing, then you'd have a cast-iron case. There's a 50 and a 70 right side by side there, so if some vandal had made off with it, you'd be obeying the remaining signs... I suspect there is a repeater, though, not sure.

Cronos is right, that's a favourite spot- but I'd disagree that they're hard to spot. In fact, I'd call it pretty visible, especially since they usually use marked vans.
