Default Remus versus Akrapovic

Anyone got an opinion based on experience?

The akrapovic are lighter but my wallet will be also.

I really want to hear them tbh. I'm looking for a nice smooth sound.

I have a full Akro system, sounds the dog's. Main thing (really) is that you get a beautifully smooth torque curve. Fittings etc. are top notch, and weighs nothing. I got it secondhand in case you're wondering. Don't know much about Remus but if you can find one or stump up for it, the Akro is good.

I've heard both, but genuinely prefer the sound of the Remus on the SV.

I had a Remus Revolution on the SV - it sounded the nuts. Very deep. If you were just going for sound and buying an end can I'd go Remus. Full system, weight saving and better hp - Akrapovic. Both makes have excellent build quality

Both too dear and don't give anything other exhausts don't.

Nice, but far far too much money.

Out of interest, which full system exhaust would you recommend for the pointy (or do you think they're all too dear for what they are)?

If you don't want to pay for an Akrapovic - M4 is a good system although has had some critics.

I do like the Remus, but as Sid Squid says, they cost way over the odds- and remember, that's a fragile and exposed bit too.

Myself, I'd say a full system is a waste of money, unless you intend to tune the bike further. Which is also a waste of money In terms of results per £, they're disasterously bad- you need to factor in the cost of the remap or rejet to make them work right as well.

The word is that Arrow give the best results in terms of power and torque- Twin Works did a load of comparative runs a while back, and while there were no big differences at peak between any of the quality brands, the Arrow was making up to 5bhp more in the midrange.

At the end of the day, though, I decided to get cheap ones- since £80 for an WRP probably gives at leat 2/3 of what you'd get for £800.
