tyre fitting - how much!?
Following on from Mr Quiff's bargin Z6 tyre post, it seems I haven't really thought this one through.
I now have sitting next to me at work 2 shiny new Z6s. I have searched this site for recommended fitters (essential rubber, fwr) though have been quoted around the 50 quid mark for both tyres. I was wondering if anyone knows a good fitters around London that would be around the 25 quid mark, or am I just dreaming? EDIT: I don't mind travelling for a bit around london for a cheaper price Thanks Luke

£50
I just ordered 2 tyres for my car from mytyres.co.uk (£180 delivered, tyres are 235*45ZR17), and then paid £13 at my local tyre fitters to have them fitted, inc new valves, balancing, disposal of the old ones, etc. Bargain |

Sorry , can't really give a name of a good and cheap place that fits tyres. It's been ages since I did that as I noticed the price of tyre fitting creeping up so just was not worth the bother most of the time to me.
That's one of the problems with buying cheaper tyres mail order and taking it somewhere else to be fitted.(tyre specialists more so). If you do not have the means to fit tyres yourself then you have to make sure you have checked that first that you are able to fit them at a cheap price and also factor in the time/convenience importance to you. Was that £13 each or £13 in total? I'd say for a bike tyre on average you would be looking at anything between £10-£20 now to be honest. Cheers Ben |

i know its no use to you, but the place near me is £15 to fit a set of tyres wheels off the bike, or £35 to fit wheels on the bike.

I'd say 'you can say that again' . . Next you'll be saying that includes them taking the wheels off the car Cheers Ben |

Pair of tyre leavers £10??
Garden spade (yes you hear me right ) - probably already have one. Some washing up liquid - probably have some. Some old rubber inertube (or similar) - probably have something. Footpump - probably have one If footpump is ineffective, some brake cleaner and a lighter … again probably have both!! Some wheel weights (use old ones) or rummage around your local tyre fitters skip and gaffa tape … So to set yourself up, about a tenner? After that, nothing but your time If you DIY, you don’t have to worry about some imbecile messing up your bike/wheel in the change either!!! If you are interested I can tell you how to use all the above to do free tyre changes!! |
