Default Chains and Sprockets

How many miles can I expect to get out of the original chain and sprockets on my curvy ?

10,000 miles now and they all look ok, I'm pretty good (read anal) at keeping everything adjusted and lubed.

Default Chain life

I've often wondered this as mine has done 10K and its looks and feels fine. Not adjsuted it and cant seem to wear it.
However I do look after it with regulary Wurth lubing (No1 in RiDE magazine) and cleaning. Also no excessive acceleration / wheelies also helps its life.

Put it this way. I abused mine, long journies done with much hard acceleration, bugger all throttle control and fairly minimal lubing.
It didn't need adjusting till almost 10k and then only every few thousand miles and lasted until 20k.

Certainly it's possible to get 20k but most folks, from what I've seen, usually need to change around 15k. Of course much depends on how the chain's been looked after.

I'd say 12k-18k is the norm

with a scottoiler, I get about 30k-35k till my front sprocket is toast

It was the front sprocket that went first for me, too.

Mine was on roughly 15,000 when I changed it (for no good reason, I might add) and looked to have a good amount of life in it still.
