SRAD and ZX6R shocks interchangable?

As the title says, are they interchangable on an SRAD?

They are both SV compatible with a bit of modification so I would assume it should almost be a straight swap for me. I just want some confirmation

I've used a few SRAD shocks on the SV and they were all a little longer, but softer sprung, I beleive the zx6 shock is slightly shorter and obviously has the res sticking straight out not across.

So ride height will be effected, and you'll have to make sure you have the room for the res ( on the SV you have to move the battery for the zx6 on).

Depends which ZX6 shock you get also, the later models have a horizontal reservoir. From memory I think these ones are post B1H?

Yep, I think you might be able to do this.

I put an SRAD 750 shock on the SV, moved the battery a little for the horizontal reservoir. Now putting on a ZX636 B1H, also horizontal reservoir. Physically very similar.

Length of Ninja shock is slightly longer (2 or 3 mm) than SV but less than SRAD by about 5mm. Ninja has hardest spring, SRAD softest.

Yep, B1H+ shocks are the newer ones which have a horizontal res which means that the battery can still be located under the front seat with a few mods.
The other older shock is the A1P one (there are other designation but i dont know what they are) which is the arsy one, which involves the battery being located under the rear seat.

Either SRAD or ZX636R B1H shock, the B1H ones being much newer than the SRAD ones.

I think the older ones that the A1P are F, G and H but not 100% sure.

Not knowing the full ins and out of suspension. Is it possible to compensate for the changes in steering geometry if i go for the shorted shock?

I take it you want to swap to the ninja shock because it's fitted with a stiffer spring than the srad?


You can compensate for the change in length with dog bones. I can't say if they need to be shorter or longer, depends on theier orientation on your bike. But the change in length is pretty minimal.

A bit, then theres the fact its a 9 year old unit with 27k on it.
